2021

Université libre de Bruxelles

The 2021 BAAHE conference, devoted to the theme of “Voicing Absences/Presences in a Damaged World”, was held at the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) on 3 December 2021, with Kate Rigby (Bath Spa University) and Alexa Weik von Mossner (University of Klagenfurt) as keynote speakers.

2018

Université de Mons

The 2018 BAAHE conference was held at the Université de Mons on Friday 30 November 2018, focusing on the theme of Intensity. The keynote speaker was Belén Méndez-Naya (University of Santiago de Compostela), and programme details are available to download as a handy booklet.

2017

Université catholique de Louvain

The 2017 BAAHE conference was held at the Université catholique de Louvain on Friday 1 December 2017 around the theme "Let’s inter-act! Innovative teaching practices in English Studies". The keynote speaker was Prof Mark Pegrum (University of Western Australia).

2022

Université de Liège

The 2022 BAAHE conference, whose theme was "Undercurrents: Challenging the Mainstream", was held at the Université de Liège on 2 December 2022. Kristin Davidse (KU Leuven, Belgium) and Douglas Robinson (Chinese University of Hong Kong, China) were the keynote speakers.

2016

Université libre de Bruxelles

The 2016 BAAHE conference, whose theme was "World / Text / Context", was held at the Université libre de Bruxelles on Friday 2 December 2016, with as keynote speaker Billy Clark (Middlesex University).

2015

Université libre de Bruxelles

The 2015 BAAHE conference, devoted to the theme of Adaptation, was held at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel - VUB on Friday 4 December 2015, with as keynote speaker Eckart Voigts (TU of Braunschweig).

2020

Universiteit Antwerpen

The 2020 BAAHE conference, titled Digital Humanities in English Language and Literature Studies in Belgium: Current Trends, Future Prospects, was held at the University of Antwerp on 17 December 2020. It was devoted to the role of Digital Humanities in Literature, Linguistics and Translation Studies. The keynote speaker was Julie Birkholz (UGent). Due to the Covid pandemic, this was an online event.

2019

Universiteit Gent

The 2019 BAAHE conference took place on 19 December 2019 at the Universiteit Gent and focused on both the instruction of English and decolonization in English literature, with Slobodanka Dimova (University of Copenhagen, Denmark) and Ankhi Mukherjee (University of Oxford, United Kingdom) as keynote speakers.
